Hostel - YO:HA Henderson

For this 3 month stay in Singapore, I decided to live in a hostel, for various reasons:
1. Reasonable + affordable cost: S$550 per month, for a rental period of at least 3 months
2. Convenience: public transit is easily accessible and reasonable distance from work place
3. Less hassle than renting a room: no need to deal with a landlord, just have to book it, arrive, and pay!
4. Friendship: it is fun to meet new people in a foreign country and living in a hostel might be a good environment for meeting new friends from different countries.
5. Security: they have 24 hr security here. Also, this is technically a student hostel, so only students/ interns are allowed to stay here. Contrary to usual understanding of a hostel (for backpacker or tourists), all of us here are staying for over 1 month, so there won't be "random" people coming in and out.

I am staying in a 4-persons room with 2 roommates. 1 from Germany and 1 from HK (YAY!) They are really nice and we seem to get along pretty well. Though I would like to meet new friends, I don't think I would want a third roommate, as "full-house" is going to be quite crowed.

The bathrooms are shared between other people in the hostel (Male and female washrooms are separated, approximately 4 toilets and 4 shower stalls on each floor). The hygiene seems to be fine, but I still don't understand why would somebody not flush after they use the toilets, considering this is 21st century >.<) One thing to note is that the pantry is really small, the fridge is packed and stinky, so I am not planning to cook at all.

Here are some of the hostel pictures: the ambiance is quite fresh and comfortable.

  1. The pictures of the room and the hostel garden look good. What does the 24 security imply. Can I still bring over friends that do not stay the hostel ?
